Mater Dei Primary School Basin Lane was founded by hte Sisters of Charity in 1874 . Our present school was built in 1968. If you visit our school you will get receive a warm welcome and we will gladly show you around. The pupils are happy and friendly and love to see visitors.

The teachers work very hard to ensure that the children are given every chance to develop educationally, socially, emotionally and physically. The pupils have the advantage of being in small classes so individual needs can be looked after. Our school is involved in many educational and creative projects. The school is situated in hte inner City of Dublin. Our location gives is easy access ti the Digital Hub, IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art), National College of Art and Design, the Phoenix Park and so much more. The pupils regularly avail of the facilities, events and projects that take place in these wonderful places.
The school is served by the Luas line and there are good bus route for those who may be travelling outside the immediate locality.
While our school has a predominately Catholic population we welcome pupils from all faiths and traditions. At present we have 258 pupils from the following countries; Ireland, Somalia, Congo, Poland, India, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Philippines, Nigeria and El Salvador.
